Ayurvedic centers in South India are located. Many authentic Ayurvedic centers
and resorts in the verdant landscape of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu exist
that offer good rejuvenation programs. Kerala's forests and hilly tracks have
nurtured an abundance of herbs, plants and trees that are extremely valuable in
the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines.
Understanding
AyurvedaAyurveda is a holistic system of healing. Ayurveda means the
"Knowledge or Science of Life". This science is almost 5000 years old.
It evolved in India with verve around 600 B.C. while the legend has it that Ayurveda
system of medicine was instructed to the ancient sages by the gods themselves.
According to Charaka, the ancient physician-sage, life is a unified state of the
physical body, the cognitive organs, the mind and the soul. Ayurveda brings harmony
into body, mind and soul, thus signifying a living being. Its very basis is the
spiritual knowledge of the ancient seers of India and the cosmic consciousness
in which they lived.
It is said that Ayurveda is old as the world itself.
The contemporary practice of Ayurveda is based on the several hundred volumes
of Classical treatises and on the official Formulary and Pharmacopoeia. Its strength
lies in its broad, all encompassing view of the dynamic inter-relationship between
organic physiological processes along with the internal psychological and spiritual
condition besides external factors including climate, life work and diet. According
to the ancient Ayurvedic texts, five elements of nature, namely, ether, air, fire,
water and earth are present in the human body:
Ether
- is space, in particular the cellular, synaptic and visceral spaces which
allow the tissues to function efficiently.
Air - governs movement
in the body. The sensation that is felt when someone touches the skin is transported
to the brain through movement. Other examples include breathing through the movement
of diaphragm as well as shifting of thoughts & desires.
Fire -
represents the qualities of change and transformation. It is therefore, the element
Relative to absorption, assimilation, digestion, and body temperature.
Water
- takes many forms in the body such as saliva, plasma, mucus and urine - at
the same time it is necessary for healthy cell functions.
Earth -
is the element which forms the solid structures of the body like bones, cartilage,
teeth and skin etc.
The scientific premise of Ayurveda focuses on living
life naturally and teaches how to live in this universe without disturbing the
delicate balance of nature. Ayurveda believes in the treatment of not just the
affected part but the body as a whole. It eliminates all toxic imbalances from
the body and thus helps to refresh you in the natural way, regain resistance and
good health. Ayurveda always stresses on the prevention of body ailments in addition
to curing them.
The five elements of the nature as listed above are used
to create the structure of the body. There are three doshas (disturbing forces)
that are formed taken two from out of the five elements mentioned above. These
are used to determine the individual's primary constitution and are responsible
for the functional aspect of the human body. Massage, herbs and oils are applied
to the body aiming to restore the natural balance of the three doshas Vata, Pitta
and Kapha, described as:
VATA - is the combination of the air and
ether.
PITTA - is the combination of water and the fire.
KAPAH
-is the combination of water and the earth elements.
Ideally human
beings and nature should be in perfect harmony. For thousands of years the wise
men of India have applied natural medicine. Disease occurs when the equilibrium
between these two is disrupted. Today, the ailing people from America, Europe,
Middle East, Arabia, and countries of Far East are contacting
Visit India South
for arranging
Ayurveda Treatment in India. Besides, there are many packages
covering
Beauty Care in Ayurveda, in which the balance of the doshas is
gradually achieved by following an appropriate diet suitable to individual's body
constitution and lifestyle. The most fascinating aspect of Ayurveda which is not
so commonly known is that in the ancient times it was using almost all methods
of healing like lifestyle regimen, herbs, diet, yoga, meditation, aroma, color,
gems, amulets, jyotishi (astrology), and surgery etc. in treating patients.

MeditationThe age-old "yoga" exercises offer a set of significant
variety of proven health benefits. It is not, in itself, a cure for any medical
ailment. It brings improvement in the coordination, sleep and digestion, concentration,
posture, range of motion, and flexibility. It also services to improve the efficiency
of the heart and slows the respiratory rate, lowers blood pressure, promotes relaxation,
improves fitness, reduces stress and allays anxiety. It has already proven its
efficacy as supplementary therapy for conditions as diverse as diabetes, asthma,
migraine, cancer, arthritis, etc., and helps to combat addictions such as smoking.
But as part of the well-known program of diet and exercise, it is known to have
contributed to the reversal of heart disease in majority of cases. Yoga is not
a religion. It is a secular and scientific methodology of the experience and integration
of the mind-body-spirit. Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in
India many thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal

development
in the world encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit.
The energy
of pure consciousness flows through us only when the mind is pure. This energy
while permeating our reality brings the experience of well-being, wisdom, and
eternal peace. However, when the mind becomes impure due to attachment to external
objects and desires, the connection to the source of pure consciousness is lost
and we experience pain and fragmentation. Modern age life has given too many news
things to us. It has made our lives easier in many ways. But more than that, it
has also increased the stress levels, the complexities and mental pressure under
which we keep going on. What we immediately do not realize is the impact of living
such a lifestyle on our health. The practice of Yoga, or unification, re-establishes
the connection between the individual and the universal field of pure consciousness.
Yoga removes the attachment to external objects and false knowledge and corrects
psychological trauma by merging the mind with the real, the virtuous, and the
wellspring of harmony.
There evolves within our mind an imagined world-a
world of images of things seen, heard, tasted, smelled and touched. A world which
compares and contrasts images, remembers them, forms ideas around them. Quickly,
there arise desires, aversions, ambitions, envy, hatred, attractions, plans, theories,
and an entire imagined universe. Yoga is a method of learning that aims to attain
the unity of mind, body, and spirit through these three main Yoga structures:
Exercise, Breathing, and Meditation. The exercises of Yoga are designed to put
pressure on the Glandular Systems of the body, thereby increasing its efficiency
and total health. It is interesting to note that the Yoga teaching, like all true
teachings, rests on a solid and strong foundation of spiritual rules which include
honesty, truth, cleanliness, discipline, and obedience. It is these ethical laws
of human conduct which are almost completely ignored in the majority of the so-called
"yoga centers" which have sprung up throughout the world over the past
few decades.
Eight Stages of Yoga:Yama - Right conduct
towards others;
Niyama - Right conduct towards oneself;
Asana
- Physical Postures;
Pranayam - Control of the Breath;
Pratyahara
- Control of the Mind and Sense Organs;
Dharana - Concentration
and Control of the Attention;
Dhyana - Meditation;
Samadhi -
Perfect balance and the unification.
Some
of the most often practiced types of Yoga are:Karma Yoga: the way
of right action that propounds selfless serving without the motivation of obtaining
results of labor.
Bhakti Yoga: the way of devotion thorough devotion
to a supreme being to submerge emotion and self in pure love.
Jnana Yoga:
the way of knowledge through studying divinity and learning to discriminate between
illusion and reality.
Hatha Yoga: the physical path that trains the
body to control the mind and senses through asana and pranayam.
Tantric
Yoga: the feminine path that worships the goddess of energy and sees the body
as the temple of the divine.
Kundalini Yoga: the path of energy that
arouses the energy stored in the chakras through breathing and movement.
Raja
Yoga: the path of meditation that controls the mind from wandering and helps
to obtain mastery over thought.
Yoga Tips· The most appropriate
time for practicing Yoga is in the morning. It is the time when the mind is calm,
composed and fresh and the body movements can be performed with considerable ease
and vigor.
· To get started you need to have the urge and confidence
in yourself.
· To practice Yoga you must choose a place which is calm,
quiet, ventilated, dust free, moisture free and distraction free.
·
Before you start Yoga, you must clear your bowels and bladder; clean your nostrils
and throat of all mucus. You must also drink a glass of lukewarm water.
·
Wait for a few minutes and then you can start.
· Like all other work
outs you must begin with easy poses, thereafter you can advance to the tough ones.
Be methodical and systematic.
· Remember, to start with your movements
should be light and if you feel fatigue in between you must discontinue.
·
Yoga must energize and not cause weariness and depression.
· You must
take breaks in between if a particular step or exercise proves tiring.
·
If you practice Yoga, your diet should be a balanced and you should eat after
an interval of 4 hours.
· The quantity of food should be such that
it satisfies your appetite.
· Over eating and fasting should be avoided.
At the same time you must try to avoid stale food.
· Yoga clothing
should be loose and as comfortable as possible. Form-fitting cotton/Lycra pants
and shirts are the best.
· While performing Yoga your breathing should
be long and deep. You must remember to keep your mouth close and inhale and exhale
only through the nose.
· You should always keep a Yoga mat made of
some comfortable materials. For lying postures use a woolen carpet, and spread
